Shaping the Green Software Foundation's strategy on AI and sustainability

AI is the most significant technology shift in a generation. It's also one of the most energy-intensive. The Green AI Committee (GAIC) has been created to shape the GSF's strategy in building knowledge, standards, and tooling to ensure AI development causes the least environmental harm possible. Before any of that work can begin, the committee needs a clear direction. That's what this assembly is for.

Over three intensive 2-hour sessions, a select group of senior representatives from GSF Steering Member organisations will come together to define the committee's focus areas, scope, and initial priorities. Through facilitated exercises on Miro, you'll explore the AI lifecycle, debate where the GSF can have the most impact, and identify the key problems worth solving first.

This is a strategy-setting assembly at the highest level. The outputs will directly shape the GAIC's manifesto, scope, and project pipeline. Everything that the Green AI Committee goes on to produce will be built on the foundations laid in these three sessions.

If you're a senior leader at a GSF member organisation with a stake in how AI and sustainability intersect, this is your chance to help set the direction for one of the Foundation's most important initiatives.
